IMG_9117WARNING: If you ever considered yourself someone that could never be addicted to an eyeshadow brush, think again. Once you have this baby you won’t know how you ever wore eyeshadow without it. The product in question is the MAC 217 brush.

Everything from the cut to the density is perfect, hence why I’ve come to have multiples in my stash. I’ll use one to apply the shadow as it ensures everything’s distributed evenly over the lids and another clean brush to blend any edges as it makes shades fade out seamlessly. Cream product? No problem. This brush ensures there’s no clumping, separating or an uneven looking finish. The uses to this brush don’t stop at eyeshadow. If I’m feeling fancy I even use it to blend in concealer too.

Just jotting this down has made me feel the need to pick up a few more. Care to join me on the MAC 217 obsession train? They’re £18 here if ya do.

I find this brush SUUUUPER scratchy, though. I thought it was all good and normal…but the Real Techniques eyeshadow brush is softer than this! Im really disappointed. I picked it up and keep using it but feel guilty torturing my eyelids every time I use it

That’s so strange! Maybe it’s a dudd? xx

I wished it were but I’ve had two already and both are scratchy :| Bought directly from MAC stores, one here in the Philippines, the other ordered through MAC online. :(

My fave eye brush of all time has got to be the MAC 239 but I’ve had my eye on one of these for what seems like forever. Maybe a payday splurge is in order. Loving the blog lately x QworterLifeCrisis

Completely agree, I’ve got other blending brushes that are very similar but just don’t to the job like the 217. I’ve had mine for about four years now and it’s still going strong!

I loved this when I got it but I find it doesn’t age that well. Have you tried Hakuhodo’s? They’re extremely soft.

I’m already on this train! There’s no other brush out there quite like the 217, I probably should pick up a few multiples (actually, I think I have three, two of which are on either end of dual sided brushes, haha).

I so wish I could afford MAC brushes – I love the Bodyshop brushes for everything except eyes!

I really like the 217 though I’m not a huge fan of MAC brushes. It’s a really good brush. But Zoeva has a brush that’s a pretty good dupe. I think it’s called the 227…

I love my Mac 217 and I would be lost without it. It’s the perfect brush for blending out shadow. I know that this is almost blasphemy, but I must say that after a couple of years the bristles on my brush have become a little less closely packed, and I find that the 286 is actually better for a targeted application of shadow.

My favorite makeup brush of all time. I have 5…and still think I need more. Best brush ever, that and their 266.

It’s everyones favorite eyeshadow brush, I really need to go ahead and get it already ;)

I love it! Although I was a bit surprised that the bristles started to ‘spread’ after only a few months of use. I’ve had other, cheaper brushes for ages and they’re still in perfect condition. Having said that, it still does the best job out of them all.

I need another one, and another 187, a Brighton perhaps?

I haven’t mustered up the courage to fork over the $$ for the 217 yet {I bought its Sigma counterpart, though}, but I know I’ll be getting it in the near future.

I definitely need this brush, I’m hesitant to spend the money on that one brush though! Have you found any dupes or similar brushes for cheaper pricetag?

Love my 217! It’s not the softest brush out there but no brush blends quite like it.

I like it a lot but not for blending. It’s not fluffy enough to blend, if you ask me..
